Applied Mechanics Laboratory
The Applied Mechanics Laboratory is utilised for both undergraduate teaching and student project work as well as postgraduate research, and is admirably equipped to perform a diverse range of tasks. These range from mechanical balancing and whirling of rotating machinery with the measurement and analysis of vibrations to the mechanical design and development of complex mechanisms.
Extensive electronic instrumentation facilities appropriate to the requirements of the mechanical engineering in the 1990s are available in the laboratory. These permit investigation into numerical control machining, robotics and automation plus the necessary interfacing to modern computer control and computing facilities.
