| Regulations and Department Policy Relevant to All Courses | |
| General Course and Examination Regulations | The regulations governing coursework and examinations are set out in detail in the General Course and Examination Regulations in the UC Calendar. |
| Coursework | The Coursework Policy describes the Department's requirements on coursework, coversheets, and lateness penalties. |
| Dishonest Practice | Althougth there are benefits to be derived from working with others, all work submitted for assessment must be essentially each student's own work. The only exception is where a lecturer has specified that work should be done in a group. The Department regards any dishonest practice as a serious offence and will take appropriate action as prescribed by Section J: Breach of Instructions and Dishonest Practice in the UC Calendar. |
| Aegrotats | Students prevented from completing items of major assessment (item worth at least 10% of final mark) in a course, or who consider that their performance in a course has been impaired, may, under certain circumstances apply for aegrotat consideration. For full details refer to Section H: Aegerotat Consideration Regulations (University of Canterbury Calendar) and Aegerotat Consideration: Procedures (University Policy Library). |
| Sitting Tests on Alternate Dates | Requests from students to be allowed special circumstances for undertaking assessment which they would otherwise miss through non-aegrotatable absence are addressed in the Policy on Requests to Sit Tests on Alternate Dates (Department). |
| Workload for Students Retaking Failed Courses | The Department strongly advises students against taking more than a full load when retaking failed courses. Consult the Policy on Failed Courses (Department). |
